If you are like me, navigating the divorce process is a hard place to be. Many of you may not have been in my place. I am married to a man that has now been in five divorces. He is also working on his sixth marriage with a married woman. I have a goofy judge to deal with on top of all of this.
One of the things that I am learning is to surround yourself with powerful women. I am not talking just women who have walked in your or my shoes. I am talking women of all walks of life. I am learning about that strength that I had forgotten that I had.
Yesterday, I had to do something that I did not think that I was capable of. If you had told me that I would be doing this six months ago or even seven years ago, I would have laughed at you. I am lucky in that I have a great family along with some really awesome friends, which include my first love. I would not be able to make it without them. I would not be able to make it without a church family along with knowing what my resources are.
Strength comes in many ways and from many resources. You just have to know where they are. Believe me, find a church family, surround yourself with a church family, check into government resources, and surround yourself with positive female role models. That will help you get through the toughest situations.
I am learning that I will survive, and that I am strong enough to do this. I know that it will show my daughters years down the road that I fought hard, fast and furious for them. It will show them that they too have the capability of this strength. Hopefully by the time this is all said and done, they will respect me more. Hopefully they too will be proud of me as a mother and a woman.
