A: The best way to get yourself in shape fast that doesn't take a lot of thought is to walk. Walking is the best way to burn fat and tone up your lower body. You can start today, no equipment needed other than a great pair of workout shoes.
For the first week walk 3 times. Aim for 1-2 miles in 17-33 minutes. During the second week, walk 3 times twice a day. Aim for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 miles in 24-38 minutes each time. In the third week, walk every other day and aim for 3 miles in 45 minutes. In the fourth week, walk 3 times; aim for 4 miles each time you go out to walk. You should be able to finish in one hour. During the fifth week of your walking workout, walk 6 days; aim for 4 miles each time you go out to walk. Keep your walk under an hour.
Stay motivated by changing your route each week. To ensure safety, walk during the daylight. But if you must walk at night, walk with a friend, wear workout clothes that have glow strips, carry a flashlight or wear a headlamp.
