New Generation of Women Admit to Starter Husbands
New Generation of Women Admit to Starter Husbands
Maybe at some point, deep down — early in your marriage — you knew it wouldn't last. But you were smart enough (or perhaps frightened enough) to keep that one to yourself. A new generation of women, however, seem perfectly comfortable voicing the finality of their relationships.
Peaches Geldolf (right), a music-scene celeb and DJ, said of her recent quickie marriage to musician Max Drummey, "I didn't go into it with Max thinking, 'This is going to last forever,' but I did go into it thinking, 'I love him right now and I know that I'll continue to love him for a long while," according to the New Zealand Herald.
The 19-year-old daughter of musician Bob Geldof wed Drummey after one week of dating and told the paper she admits she doesn't see her "quickie" marriage lasting. She further explained that "I'm realistic, you can't ignore divorce rates. Every friend of mine has parents who are divorced."
We've heard of the starter wife phenomenon, but what about starter husbands? The biggest difference: Those who entered into marriages didn't know they'd exit the other side labeled a "starter wife." But Peaches admits divorce is on the horizon. To the public. To the press. In the newspapers!?!
The big question: Why marry at all?
