A new law will allow Japanese women to choose freedom over an unhappy marriage. Historically, Japanese women had two choices: stay, or leave with nothing. For the first time, they now have a third option ... and no, it's not Hari Kiri!
At times I’m amazed at the lethargic pace of societies in embracing women as real humans with real qualities and values and purpose. Women have fought for years in America for equality in society, often at times when society held similar arcane views of gender superiority and inferiority.
Even though Paul McCartney might not excitedly cheer along with this particular blog right at this particular point in his life (and many of us wouldn't blame him), we should look at these advances as milestones in the evolution of all mankind/womankind and cheer, support, blog, email, etc etc! It means, in so many ways that world societies are evolving, don't you think?

Absolutely agree ...
Even though my marriage took me to quite the "inferior place" ... until I came to the conclusion that I needed out ~
it became like, "me inferior, him superior!" as he pounded his chest.
I would think Japanese men respect their wives more than say my unfortunate situation, but, yes, it's great to see us evolve!
More superior than before, Suze
or should I say
less inferior than before .... S
