Hoff's in the House...But Why?

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Fri, 02/29/2008 - 10:00am

Former Baywatch hunk David Hasselhoff has won a court order to return to his family home to retrieve certain possessions that were apparently worth, to him, an extra few visits to court.

So, what couldn't the Hoff live without?

Among the items listed were: an antique barber's chair, an ivory tusk, a statue of a dolphin, a model elephant, and some baseball memorabilia. I guess he already has his Baywatch float in his new digs.

Hoff and his ex Pamela Bach's divorce was settled in December, tying up loose ends like spousal and child support, and custody issues of the couple's two daughters. The two share custody, though any monetary details of the split were not released.

I suppose this is just more evidence of boys becoming rather attached to their toys.

Britney Will See Her Kids

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Mon, 02/25/2008 - 8:14am
It's almost impossible to avoid Britney Spears news these days, but with no news as yet involving the settlement of the biggest divorce of the year (Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills), here's a quick synopsis of all things in the Spears zone:

Britney has managed to regain visitation rights for her kids, though with some strings attached; Spears was hospitalized earlier this month in a psychiatric facility. The visits must take place in a therapeutic setting. Also, Britney's father Jamie Spears and Brit's psychiatrist must be at every visit. Both sides are impressed by how quickly Daddy Spears has helped calm the maelstrom that Britney's life has become. He remains her conservator for the time being.

Also new is that Sam Lufti, one of Brit's many hangers-on and someone actually accused of drugging her, has finally been served with a restraining order forbidding contact with the pop star through the middle of March. He seemingly had attempted to avoid being served with papers long enough for them to expire, only showing up at his place of residence a day after they were valid. A judge extended the restraining order and also ruled Lufti had been served so he was under obligation of the order.

All we can do is hope Britney's able to get the help she needs. The family support is coming together nicely in her favor.

McGreeveys Battle In Court

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 9:10am
Former New Jersey governor James McGreevey and his estranged wife Dina Matos McGreevey look like they're trying to set a record for court appearances.

The pair were in court yet again on Friday because of a motion made by James to have their daughter Jacqueline evaluated by psychological experts, reportedly in order to bolster his motion for joint custody.

Dina countered by saying that the time to hire experts had already elapsed, and to do so at this stage was simply an attempt to set their May hearing date back. The judge agreed, saying that the experts opinions were unnecessary.

The couple already has a parenting coordinator and a counselor for their daughter, who is six.

After the ruling, Jim was quoted as saying he was "disappointed" since he has "always wanted equal custody and equal parenting time".

Dina was rather perturbed by this claim as well, filing papers stating that "at no time during their marriage or separation has (McGreevey) co-parented Jacqueline as he asserts". She also said that whenever he has their daughter, he frequently leaves her in the care of others, such as his sister, friends or his partner.

It's sure to be an interesting road to May, and clearly there's very little chance of this one settling out of court. Let's hope when it comes to custody that both parties can focus on what's really best for the child, however, and not what they may perceive is best because it's best for them.

Actor Ryan Philippe's Post-Split Funk

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Wed, 02/13/2008 - 10:00am

You'd think that being a handsome, accomplished actor with legions of women who ogle and adore you from afar might be enough to bring some men out of the post-split funk.

For Ryan Philippe, that knowledge didn't help him in the slightest.

He's said after his divorce from Reese Witherspoon, there were "four or five months of not being able to get out of bed". He also calls it the "darkest, saddest time of my life".

It certainly shows how devastating divorce can be not just for women, but for men as well.

Nowadays Philippe has managed to recover some. He has a new film out, entitled Stop-Loss, and he calls the divorce recuperation a process, saying he "gets less and less sad about it every day".

Neither he nor Reese have said publicly why they divorced. All he said about it was the reason was "far more complicated and far less interesting" than what people have speculated.

A likely reason was simply the pull of their careers and the time spent apart while shooting movies. Some have said it has to do with Ryan's interest in his Stop-Loss costar Abbie Cornish, but Ryan has denied that on several occasions. He is rumored to be dating Cornish, however. Reese is currently dating Jake Gyllenhall.

Reality TV Curse Claims New Victims

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 7:00pm

First there was "Newlyweds", which led to Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's untimely demise, then "Chaotic", a show that gave us just the slightest glimpse into what would become a continuing pattern of insanity for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

And now, MTV has claimed another marriage. Stars of "Meet the Barkers", Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and wife Shanna Moakler have split for good. Travis had filed in 2006 for divorce, but there was a reconciliation in 2007. Apparently whatever was carrying them through '07 just didn't last in '08.

The papers were all finalized on Monday, though nothing has been said about custody of their two children or division of assets and property. In talking with Barker, it doesn't seem that another reconciliation is likely. He's focusing in on caring for his children more than reuniting with their mother or finding someone else to take her place.

Doubt they will be able to make a divorce scene like Brit and Kevin though. That's a tough act to follow.

Burlesque Dancer Divorces Marilyn Manson

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Wed, 01/02/2008 - 11:00am

Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson was able to begin 2008 free of a little past baggage. Manson's divorce from model and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese officially ended on Thursday, just in time for both to kiss off the old year and ring in the new.

The two have reached a marital settlement but the terms of it were not revealed for privacy reasons.

Dita and Marilyn married in November of 2005, and Dita filed for divorce under — surprise surprise! — "irreconcilable differences" just a year later. Honestly, given the type of stage shows that Manson is most well known for, I'd be willing to bet those differences are a bit more irreconcilable than most.

Manson himself was reportedly devastated by the breakup, and attributed it to Dita's misgivings about his lifestyle. Now whether it was simply the rock and roll life that she couldn't handle or if there are other aspects to his personal daily life that she found unsettling is anyone's guess. Perhaps she just didn't want to be married to a man who wore more makeup than she did.

As with many celebs, however, the lack of a divorce decree didn't stop Manson from playing the field. He is currently involved with 20-year-old actress Evan Rachel Wood. Let's hope if she and Manson end up tying the knot that she doesn't anticipate much of a change.

After a five year separation, and two years of divorce proceedings, rocker Eddie Van Halen and his ex Valerie Bertinelli are finally officially single. Break out the champagne!

The divorce was amicable, and very few details have been released to the public. I'm sure both will be able to find dates by Christmas!

Valerie filed for divorce in 2005, citing, as always, irreconcilable differences. At the time she filed, the couple had already been separated for over five years. They were married in 1981, and have one son who is on tour with his dad filling in for a bass player. As the son is still 16, custody was an issue, though nothing has been reported as far as who has the boy or how this will affect his current touring schedule, if at all.

How odd must it be to be roaming the countryside with your dad by your side. And your dad is now a single dude. I bet that boy sees a lot more than he ever wanted to out of his daddy in the next coming months.

The Hoff For The Holidays

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Wed, 12/19/2007 - 11:00am

Just in time for Christmas, David Hasselhoff and his ex Pamela Bach have come to an agreement on their post-divorce loose ends. What better gift to give than the promise of no court dates for the new year, right?

The Hoff and his ex were officially divorced in August of 2006, but it's taken till now to get financial and custody arrangements settled. In June of this year, Hasselhoff was granted full custody of their two teenage daughters, but today it was revealed that the couple will have a joint custody arrangement. Hoff has also agreed to let his ex stay in their San Fernando Valley home until it is sold.

Apparently the ex-couple's relationship has begun to become more civil, which allowed for the revised custody arrangement. No word on whether Bach got the extra spousal and child support she was after, though.

Hoff praised his daughters for their strength and dignity through this "very difficult time". Neither Bach nor her lawyers had any comment to make on the proceedings as of yet.

Good luck in your separate lives!

Arkansas State Representative Donna Hutchinson is going to have to wait a bit longer for her day in court. One by one, all of the circuit judges in Benton County have recused themselves from hearing her case against her ex-husband, former US Senator Tim Hutchinson.

Apparently, due to both parties' political connections, they have made acquaintance and even forged friendships with the judges in question. Neither party were surprised by the judges' actions.

Donna filed suit in October, claiming her husband is breaching the terms of their 1999 divorce settlement. She claims he is refusing to provide information that would allow her to determine if she's being paid what she is owed.

Politicians quibbling over money. Even in their personal lives they just can't escape it, can they?

Mr. Hutchinson, in typical politico fashion, has responded by saying his ex-wife is trying to intimidate and harass him with this lawsuit. Gotta love politicians — it's always about them.

Donna acknowledges that the monetary amount might be correct, but she wants proof, specifically his tax documents that detail how much he is currently making as a lobbyist.

Since no judges in the county circuit court will take the case, it is up to the Arkansas Supreme Court chief justice to determine who will sit through the proceedings. And you thought scheduling your divorce hearings was tricky.

Crazy Is As Crazy Does

Posted by Donna Carlisle on Tue, 11/27/2007 - 12:00pm
Our favorite bitter divorcée is back at it. Apparently inspired by recent photos of her estranged husband Paul McCartney in the company of various women, Heather Mills has decided to take on a beau of her own. I would feel sorry for this guy, but unless he can't read he's undoubtedly aware of all her recent self-generated media publicity. Hey, maybe he likes his girls a little nutty.

The man in question is sculptor David Shilling. The two were seen together at the opening of a new exhibition for Fernando Botero. He apparently was very attentive to her and showed her off, even introducing her to Prince Albert II. Now, of course there is no confirmation as of yet of their relationship status, but it does indeed prove one thing.

It's quite clear both of these two, Paul and Heather, are ready to move along with their lives and date and love and whatnot. These two have given me tons of fodder for my blogging pen, and much as I've enjoyed chronicling their wickedly unraveling divorce, it's time for the end of this. At this point there's nothing left to hold...aside from that huge wad of cash, of course.
