Divorce Court’s Judge Lynn Toler Takes the Stage

TV’s wildly successful Divorce Court is like porn for the broken-hearted. Short of setting “Love Stinks” to repeat on our iPods, no other guilty pleasure assuages our heartache by reminding us that love does indeed stink…for everyone! Call it voyeurism or schadenfreude — we love watching couples with all sorts of troubles.

But for Judge Lynn Toler, the show’s quick-witted yet even-tempered host, the program is more than entertainment; it’s a sign of the times. “I am concerned about the current state of marriage, especially as it relates to the family and kids,” Toler says. That explains why she’s leaving the bench — at least for one night — and taking the stage.

Divorce Court: An Evening with Lynn Toler will premiere at the historic Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday January 15th, 2010.  In addition to the signature elements of “Divorce Court” — real couples seeking expert advice — the event will feature Judge Toler discussing her “mother rules” on life, a focus on the topic of divorcing well, and a “before your vows” conversation tackling what couples can do to best prepare for a successful long-term relationship.

"On ‘Divorce Court’ I am usually focused on damage control," Judge Toler explains. "Taking the ‘Divorce Court’ experience on the road allows me to get out in front of the relationship problems and advise couples early when it can really have some benefit — and in a forum that is not full of screaming people.”

Tickets are $20 each, and are currently available at all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: (800)-745-3000.
