Considering China's dubious reputation for human rights, it's good news that some parts of this enormous country are looking out for women who aren't "at fault" in their divorces.
Authorities in Shenzhen, a sub-provincial city near Hong Kong in southern China, are prepared to award 60 percent of marital assets to women who are deemed not at fault in the breakup of their marriages. And women whose husbands hide, sell or intentionally damage property during a divorce, would be entitled to at least 70 percent of the assets.
Apparently, women will still get 60 percent even if neither party is at fault. That seems a bit unfair to the men, but then again, men in China have had quite a long winning streak.
If I were a Chinese woman living in that patriarchal society, I'd be glad somebody was finally looking out for me. To say the least, this effort to protect women’s rights is an impressively progressive step for China. And while it seems these new guidelines will apply only to a small corner of the country, it’s worth watching to see if more of these types of reforms are forthcoming.

It does seem a bit unbalanced to men
but, like the ebb and flow of nature, etc, society's moral pendulum sways back and forth at it's own rate and to its own extremes. Men have had it great in China for quite a long time. This change is probably a conscious or unconscious adjustment and reaction to that.
I agree
I mean, I'm all for equality and I know first hand the balance of what a woman adds to a family compared to what a man adds. but I'm not for inequality..
good thinking on the equality
I mean, it's sort of shooting yourself in the foot, when you create a law that is meant for equality, but establishes inequality..
