All good survival stories. Then I joined a boot camp-style fitness program and weight watchers with the support of and being accompanied by a good friend. I lost almost 50 lbs in the first year after my husband left me for someone else. I blamed my weight gain in the 20 year marriage (almost 100 lbs!!) on my depression due to the problems in the marriage. After he left, I couldn't blame him anymore. I new I had to survive on my own and read many stories of people who had through situations far worse than a bad marriage ending. I felt better and looked better. Buying new clothes in a much smaller size didn't feel too bad either!
