Gary and Lorna Wendt had a messy divorce. He was a top executive at GE, and yes, there was another woman involved. But that wasn’t the issue. The issue was a fair division in the settlement she sought from her husband of 32 years. Lorna insisted on half of her husband’s assets, which were estimated to be more than $100 million.

When they started out, they started out with nothing, but she was an equal partner. At the end of the marriage, 32 years later, she remained an "equal partner," yet in addition to 99% of the domestic workload she had continued to be her husband’s biggest supporter, was married to the company, but had no benefits.

After a tedious fight, she triumphed and forever changed the longstanding balance of the true value of a woman's contribution to a marriage and partnership.
